Job Overview: We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with expertise in MEP systems, HVAC design, and plumbing infrastructure to join our in-house engineering and construction team. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas with a proven track record in mechanical system design for a variety of building types. This is a key role for a team-oriented leader who can oversee full mechanical design from concept through construction.
Responsibilities:
Lead and design mechanical system design for HVAC, plumbing, and MEP components in residential, commercial, and hospitality projects
Prepare mechanical construction drawings, equipment schedules, and specifications
Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, energy standards, and sustainability goals (ASHRAE, IECC, local regulations)
Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, and project managers to align systems with project goals
Provide cost estimates, value engineering alternatives, and system optimization strategies
Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings during construction
Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure systems are installed per design
Mentor junior engineers and support team training and development
Coordinate with city officials, third-party consultants, and utility providers
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC/MEP design software (e.g., Trane Trace, HAP)
Knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and plumbing/mechanical regulations in Texas
Preferred:
8+ years of hands-on experience with commercial, hospitality, or multifamily MEP design
Experience working directly with developers, architects, and general contractors
LEED certification or experience with green building practices
