Job Overview:
The role involves establishing and maintaining drainage standards for Majestic Developers, preparing detailed drainage reports and plans for land development projects, and utilizing water modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM 2.0) for hydrological and hydraulic analysis. You will collaborate with the project team, providing weekly updates to the Director of Engineering, and work with engineers and junior CAD drafters to ensure design feasibility. The position also requires staying updated on industry trends, incorporating innovative solutions into designs, and occasional local travel for site visits and project coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Drainage Standards Setup: Establish and maintain drainage standards for Majestic Developers, ensuring consistency and compliance across all projects.
Drainage Reports & Plans: Prepare detailed drainage reports and plans for land development projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
Water Modeling Analysis & Design: Utilize HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM 2.0, and other relevant software to conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling for drainage and stormwater systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and optimal design.
Software Proficiency: The candidate must have hands-on experience and proficiency with the following software tools: AutoCAD, ARC-GIS, ARC-GIS Pro, HEC-RAS 1D & 2D, HEC-HMS, HEC-SSP, HY-8, FlowMaster, PCSWMM, SWAT, MIKE NAM, MIKE 11, MIKE 21, MIKE-Flood, Cloud Compare, Agisoft Metashape, and Cropwat. Experience in using these tools for design, analysis, and modeling of civil engineering projects is essential.
Reporting & Continuous Learning: Prepare detailed water modeling reports to support design decisions and stay updated with advancements in water modeling technologies to enhance project outcomes.
Team Collaboration & Reporting: Collaborate with the project team, providing weekly progress updates to the Director of Engineering on work completion and challenges.
Design Feasibility Coordination: Work with engineers and junior CAD drafters to evaluate and ensure the feasibility of design solutions.
Industry Trends & Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and incorporate new technologies and best practices into your designs to enhance project outcomes.
Local Travel: The position may require occasional local travel for site visits and project coordination.
Skills and Specifications:
Strong knowledge of stormwater management and drainage design principles.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Hydraulic Modeling Software, and other relevant tools.
Knowledge of local building codes, zoning, and environmental regulations.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.
Experience:
4-5 years of experience in drainage engineering, particularly in land development or construction projects.
Experience with stormwater management systems, site grading, and hydrology is preferred.
Qualifications:
Green card or U.S. citizenship is required.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or the ability to obtain within a specified time is a plus.
Familiarity with sustainable drainage and green infrastructure is highly desirable.
