Job Overview: We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Manager – Land Development to oversee the horizontal development of residential and commercial land projects. This role is critical in coordinating infrastructure construction, managing contractors, and ensuring timely delivery of finished lots. The ideal candidate has a strong background in civil construction and sitework, with a minimum of 5 years of experience managing land development projects from groundbreaking to closeout.

This position requires frequent daily travel to job sites across the Greater Houston area. Candidates must be comfortable driving to various locations as part of their regular responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day construction activities for land development projects including earthwork, water, sanitary sewer, drainage, and paving
• Coordinate with civil engineers, utility providers, municipalities, and general contractors to ensure timely project execution
• Review engineering plans and provide feedback on constructability and sequencing
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with approved plans, schedules, and budgets
• Oversee field inspections and manage punch list items for final acceptance
• Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, schedules, and change orders
• Proactively identify and resolve issues related to permitting, utilities, or unforeseen site conditions
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor safety, quality control, and project progress
• Collaborate with development, engineering, and purchasing teams to support project goals
• Interface with city inspectors and regulatory agencies for inspections and approvals

Qualifications

Required: 
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent field experience)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in land development construction management
• Strong knowledge of civil sitework, underground utilities, and municipal inspection processes
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil plans, plats, and construction documents
• Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, and contractors simultaneously
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred: 
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in residential or commercial land development
• Familiarity with Houston-area municipal codes, utility districts, and permitting processes
• Experience working directly with developers, engineers, and municipalities
• Proficiency with project management software and reporting tools
