Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer – Drainage, H&H (Hydrology & Hydraulics) to support our engineering and land development teams. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and analyzing drainage systems, stormwater management infrastructure, and flood mitigation strategies. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of real estate development projects while gaining exposure to all phases of the land development process.
Responsibilities:
Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for stormwater management, detention, and conveyance systems
Design drainage infrastructure for residential and commercial site development projects
Prepare drainage reports, technical memoranda, and permitting documentation
Collaborate with civil, geotechnical, and environmental consultants to integrate drainage solutions into site layouts
Perform field assessments, topographic analysis, and site drainage evaluations
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including FEMA, TCEQ, and county drainage criteria
Assist with floodplain analysis and mitigation design for development in flood-prone areas
Support plan preparation for land development permits and approvals
Work closely with project managers and senior engineers to coordinate timelines and deliverables
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum 2 years of experience in Hydraulic and Hydrology
Proficiency with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and stormwater modeling tools
Understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations and municipal drainage criteria
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
3+ years of experience in land development, drainage, or H&H design
Experience with detention basin and storm sewer design in Harris, Fort Bend, or Montgomery counties
Familiarity with local permitting agencies (e.g., City of Houston, Fort Bend Drainage District)
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or on path to obtain PE license
